About The Journey
The Journey House Church Network is a network of house churches that share a common mission and vision. It was started in February 2009 when Bob & Becky Roby left New Hope Community Church to establish a discipleship-based fellowship around the servant leadership culture of Jesus Christ. The unique direction and culture of The Journey draws from the founding vision of Mission-link (www.mission-link.blogspot.com), which continues to provide vision, training and resources for The Journey and other missional communities.
People in The Journey meet weekly in homes and in discipling triads, and monthly at large Gatherings and workshops for leadership growth. We are daring to try to live out what Jesus believed was worth dying for: Bringing the presence of God through people rather than buildings and programs. We value our relationships with one another and believe that every person has an important gift to bring to the Church body. We are looking at how the Church was launched by the Author through accountable relationships: with three (Peter, James, & John), with twelve (the 12 disciples), and in walking out the Kingdom in public places as Paul recorded in Acts 20:20, “You know that I have not hesitated to preach anything that would be helpful to you but have taught you publicly and from house to house.”
Ask yourself…
What would it look like if
- Jesus made all my decisions today? (1Peter 3:15)
- We treated everyone like they were worth dying for? (John 3:16)
- We loved people and controlled resources instead of the other way around? (John 13:35, Luke 16:9)
- We were convinced that what Jesus did on the cross really worked? (1 John 1:9)
- We all learned how to follow before we tried to lead? (Matt. 3:13-15, John 5:19)
- We forgot about titles and just did what was needed? (1Corinthians 12:7-11)
- We saw everyone as leaders – because everyone has influence? (1Corinthians 7:14, Daniel 12:3)
- We really did just what we thought God’s Spirit was leading us to do? (Romans 8:14, Luke 4:1)
- We admitted that what we do, not our doctrinal statement, is what we really believe? (James 2:18-20)
- We just focused on making and being disciples – like Jesus told us to do? (Matthew 28:18-20)
We are trying to answer these questions by the way we walk together -
in The Journey.
